Cinemalaya 2012 at CCP

My experienced in Cinemalaya, the film festival of Filipino Independent films, last year was a total blast for reel and real.  I watched two entries – Ang Babae sa Septic Tank (The Woman in the Septic Tank) and Huling Halik (The Last Kiss) with two different people.
I’m really eager to watch Cinemalaya this year and wishing that it’s also in Cultural Center of The Philippines (CCP) where this festival primarily holds. I like it there because of the ambiance and audience, though very far and the transportation cost is almost the same with the film ticket.

When you are watching Cinemalaya at CCP

  •  It feels like you and other fellow moviegoers are all enjoying the art of filming
  •  It feels like you are coming back in the time when all people really like  watching as part of their lifestyle (ala CinemaParadiso)
  • CCP is theater or home of Filipino artistry. Every time I’m there I can feel the arts flowing in my veins. Hehehe!
  • You can encounter the directors and actors of the films. Last year, before we watched Huling Halik, the director talked in front and introduced his piece and his cast.
  • When the audience likes the film they’re not shy to stand up and applaud – yes that’s standing ovation- which I experienced in Babae sa Septic Tank ( top billed by Eugene Domingo, JM De Guzman, Kean Cipriano and Cai Cortez). Anyway, Babae deserved that recognition because it was really wonderful comedy film. I can say that it’s my best Filipino comedy film so far.
  • There’s no almost limitation or censorship when it comes to delicate scenes. Huling Halik was about gay (the handsome one) and his lover (with girlfriend) who snatched time for the love that’s no direction. Yes, there are several bed scenes there between two men – actually not only in bed. This kind of movie is rare in mainstream cinema and without cut.
  •  Cinemalaya at CCP can proves that young ones, yuppies (like us) and oldies still love local films. You know and again, even the place is very far and there are many Hollywood movies in mall they make time, effort and money to watch.

This year I’m hoping and  looking forward to see these interesting films:
